Sandhya Porritt: Undulating Scapes
Sandhya Porritt’s fascinating macrophotography documents the minute, often unseen landscapes, patterns and hidden beauty within tree bark and vegetation.
Undulating Scapes is the product of a twelve month project in which Porritt revisited the same trees multiple times to capture the subtle changes that occurred in their bark as they grew or reacted to changes in the weather.
Porritt’s images explore the twisting shapes and patterns that naturally form on tree bark and invites a novel reappraisal of our own relationship with landscape. They instantly draw a range of comparisons between the scales of landscape we are more familiar with and those of the worlds traversed by the smaller inhabitants of this earth.
