Located on the shores of Sydney Harbour in the suburb of Mosman, Taronga Zoo was opened to the public in 1916 and is currently home to 2,600 animals across 340 different species. The zoo participates in several breeding programs for rare and endangered species. The Zoo is home to a plethora of both Australian and international animals, and has exhibits featuring life in the Australian Wetlands, outback, and rainforests. Free interactive talks and feeding shows throughout the day provide in-depth information about specific animals and are great educational resources for school groups and children.
