95 Coromandel Road, Ebenezer NSW 2756
The Ebenezer Church was established in 1809 and remains the oldest extant church in Australia. Take a tour of the historical precinct of Windsor before driving along the peaceful scenic route to the Ebenezer Church. A small church, historic cottage, pioneer graveyard and grapevine terrace overlooking the magnificent Hawkesbury River, Ebenezer welcomes you to experience the historical culture of Australia.
The church is small and quaint, yet still completely active for the local church parishioners. Visitors are welcome to take self-guided tours any day of the week and information pamphlets are available on the site. We recommend your tour include a visit to the Schoolmaster’s House which contains photographs and memorabilia on the church’s interesting history.
Many of the First Fleet families and convicts who made their lives in the early farming district of the extended Hawkesbury Region are buried in the surrounding gardens of the church.
Casual visitors may enjoy Devonshire teas and purchase locally made jams, craft, souvenirs and family and church history books and booked tours include a fascinating talk about the Church.
