Spectacular coastal journeys, hinterland national parks, lush forests, lakes and rivers shape its iconic towns: Forster, Tuncurry, Port Macquarie, Kempsey and Coffs Harbour.
You'll be spoilt for choice as you try and decide between the adrenalin pumping adventures in the vibrant city of Port Macquarie. Head out to Lighthouse Beach to enjoy a couple of great surf breaks and walk to the 3rd oldest lighthouse in the country. Tacking Point Lighthouse is a colourful and interesting piece of history. Stroll through one of the largest subtropical rainforest reserves at the Sea Acres Rainforest Centre. For all you foodies, savour the flavours at Tastings on Hastings Food and Wine Festival, enjoyed overlooking the remarkable Hastings River in October.
The relaxed city of Coffs Harbour will not fail to entertain with its flawless coastline and multitude of things to do and places to go. Take out your cameras for one of the most well-known attractions, The Big Banana. However, if you've seen this a million times, go on a soul-stirring rainforest adventure as you guide yourself through Dorrigo National Park. Take the Skyway for magnificent views over the rainforest and down to the Bellinger Valley. If the 2.5 hour walk doesn't blow your socks off, experience camel riding along a pristine golden stretch of beach and perhaps, learn a few interesting camel facts. Camp by the beach, watch whales cruise by or explore the ultimate writer's retreat at Crowdy Bay National Park.
