Richmond (Vic.) Highlights & Essential Things To Do
Discover Your Local Richmond (Vic.) Area
A vibrant ethnic and cultural mix means Richmond has many things to do and activities on offer, brimming with pubs, cheap food and great bargains. Although the traffic often drives its residents insane, away from the main road lies a wonderfully quiet little haven at this inner south east suburb of Melbourne.
Block after block of Vietnamese restaurants, bakeries and grocers is what could be a piece of Vietnam along Victoria Street. Known as Little Saigon, Vietnamese culture permeates the streets in the form of language, different events and countless Asian treats. If you're feeling more like a fiesta, a $5 taco revolution awaits at Fonda Mexican. Their fish tacos are so good that Swan Street suddenly feels like a holiday in Mexico. Sip on a passionfruit frozen margarita in the courtyard or try the kangaroo burrito to spice things up.
Hit up Bridge Road and Swan Street for wholesale outlets where you can pick up a bargain. Quite a contrast to the glamorous Chapel Street, you don't need a lot of cash in this part of town. Over on Bridge Road are restaurants, pubs and numerous other places to go. Guide yourself through the French style cobblestone alleyways that lead to The Bridge Hotel, a popular destination amongst the increasingly hip bar scene around Richmond. A Carlton Draught on the cheap means that the extreme makeover still hasn't changed this old local favourite.
Craving a cultural mix or needing to unwind? Richmond is a cultural fusion where the old meets the new and a cheeky glass of Prosecco goes hand in hand with a good ol' pint.
