Perth International Arts Festival
The Perth International Arts Festival pays annual tribute to creative arts and the rich culture of Western Australia.
The Festival, founded in 1953, is the oldest annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere. The three-week long event will feature local and international creative arts of the highest calibre, a credit to the Festival’s outstanding international reputation in the arts.
Experience some of the world’s best theatre, film, visual arts, street arts and literature, enhanced by the community spirit underlying the festivities.
Performance venues span theatres, halls, hotels, gardens and various landmark buildings. This gives visitors a chance to explore the entire city in the process of enjoying the entertainment and activities on offer.
The Festival’s Rio Tinto Family Program will provide for a great day out with the little ones. Lotterywest Festival Films will be playing throughout the festival and into the weeks of March. Aspiring writers should make sure to attend the presentations by award winning authors at the Perth Writers Festival.
Students passionate about learning from the best in all fields of creative arts should register quickly for the dozens of workshops in the Rio Tinto Education Program. Those wanting to see a bit of themselves in the Festival can easily be a part of the Shortcuts Film Project (camera and favourite shortcut required).
For the first time in 2013, the Perth Festival Young Ambassadors experience will be offered to talented, aspiring arts professionals.
The selected Young Ambassadors will be given privileged, behind-the-scenes access to the Festival and the world-class performers participating in it, and free tickets to Festival events. Apply or nominate a young aspiring arts professional.
