Boardies Day

Show off your favourite quick-drying shorts in Feburary for national Boardies Day.

Boardies Day is back raising vital funds for Australia’s surf lifesaving services.

Participants are encouraged to embrace the true blue Aussie lifestyle by ditching their regular clothes and wearing their board shorts to work or school.

With 36,000 km of coastline, thousands of Australian beach-goers each year are protected in the surf and on the sand by volunteer life savers from over 300 clubs across the country.

Surf Lifesaving Australia depends largely on donations from the community to ensure volunteers are properly equipped and trained to keep our beaches safe.

So host a Boardies Day celebration and get into the fundraising spirit.

Need party ideas? Transform your office or classroom into a beach oasis. Serve a seafood BBQ lunch, red and yellow cupcakes or blue jelly for the kids. Deck the place in beach themed decorations – think blow-up beach balls, palm tree cut-outs, surfboards and buckets and spades. Top it all off with the best summer-themed songs blasting from the stereo and you will feel like you’re kicking back at one of Australia’s best beaches for a few hours of the day.

Boardies day is a celebration fit for all ages and the perfect opportunity to teach kids about the importance of surf safety.

So embrace Australia’s iconic coastal climate and support those who ensure we all have fun (and are safe) in the sun.
