Now that we've accepted the ereader, it's time to look at some of the creative possibilities afforded by digital texts. Publisher of Booksquare.com Kassia Krozser (US), author of digital fiction Inanimate Alice, Kate Pullinger (Canada), and founder of online digital library LibriVox Hugh McGuire (Canada) discuss what multilayered media, text enriched with images, sound and interactive features might soon do to revolutionise a bookshelf near you. Chaired by if:book's Simon Groth.

    About the Festival

Since 1986, Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) has been a cornerstone of the city's literary culture. The festival's success – and that of the city’s writers, publishers and all those across the industry – has provided the opportunity for Melbourne’s community of readers and writers to grow and prosper.

Each year, MWF invites novelists, playwrights, poets, screenwriters, journalists, songwriters, bloggers - anyone who's part of the world of words. We host politicians and artists, policy wonks and pop culture icons, crime writers and high culture theorists. The festival program features an enormous range of literary activity including entertaining discussions, debates, readings, film screenings, interviews, literary banquets, performances, workshops and book launches, as well as a lively schools' program for primary and secondary students.

To all of these events, we welcome hundreds of guests from around the world and across the country, meaning we’re able to celebrate the work of the writers you love and surprise you with those you never knew existed. At the heart of every program remains the opportunity for writers and readers to connect in unexpected ways.

Join us for the 26th Melbourne Writers Festival which runs from Thursday 25 August to Sunday 4 September 2011.
