Violin and harp make a slightly unusual combination, but a warm and beautiful one. Elizabeth Sellars and Marshall McGuire are the ideal performers for this richly coloured and utterly charming program. France in the 19th and 20th centuries was a wonderful place for harpists: an outpouring of technical and musical innovation for the instrument captured the imagination of composers such as Hasselmans and Saint-Saëns. Bach's violin sonata is transformed with harp accompaniment while Melbourne composer Stuart Greenbaum's 9 Candles for Dark Nights makes an evocative centrepiece for the year's final concert.
