Canberra Olympic Triathlon

Information
Date: Sunday 18th December
Race Distances: 1.5 km swim / 40 km ride / 10 km run
Entry Fee: $100 for TA members, $120 for non-members
Location: Race registration, start, finish and transition will be adjacent to the Acton Ferry Terminal, Acton (access from Commonwealth Avenue Bridge), plenty of car parks will be adjacent to the race site.

Swim: A 1.5 km single lap around a course using some of the established swim course provided by the National Capital Authority. Swim start and finish will be adjacent to the Acton Ferry Terminal building.

Bike: Enjoy a 40 km time trial on a smooth, wide road, Parkes Way, which will be closed to vehicle traffic. You will ride 3 laps of a 13.3km loop. The course is generally flat and fast - there are two points in the western half of the course where you may need to get out of the saddle to keep up a good speed. A gear cluster with a high 11 tooth sprocket and a low 21 or 23 tooth sprocket should see you maintain a fast average speed on this course.

Run: The 10 km run is an out and back course on bicycle/pedestrian paths that takes you alongside Lake Burley Griffin and over to Black Mountain Peninsular and return to the finish line at Acton. From transition you will head south west towards the National Museum of Australia and then west into Black Mountain Peninsula to the turnaround point and then back the same way to the finish line. The course is mostly flat with gradual gradients near the Museum and in Black Mountain Peninsular – hardly noticeable as you enjoy the sparkling vistas across Lake Burley Griffin to Australia’s national monuments like Parliament House, the High Court and the National Gallery of Australia.
