Central QLD Area Highlights & Essential Things To Do
Discover Your Local Central QLD Area
Central QLD sits in the heart of the state and brings to mind images of mines, the famous Aussie outback and the bush. But the region is home to a lot more than that! Explore the region for yourself and discover the rich area, home to native wildlife and ancient lands.
The outback regional area is home to a number of popular regional centres including Rockhampton, Banana, Park Avenue, Norman Gardens and Kawana. The region is well known for its summer-weather, native outback environment and dense bushland.
The area is made up of over thirty national parks, open to visitors all year round. Explore the bushland and discover native animals in their natural habitat. The Carnarvon Gorge offers visitors the opportunity to camp overnight. Pitch a tent and camp out under the stars before trekking through the bush and exploring the region.
There are some animals you won’t want to come across in the wild including snakes and crocodiles. But if you still want to catch a glimpse of these Australian reptiles, head to Koorana Crocodile Farm. Queensland’s first farm of its kind, it is situated in the wetlands and offers visitors the chance to see the crocs at their best.
The adventurous with fuel to burn flock to MakoTrac International Raceway for some serious go kart action. Race your friends around the 411m track and beat the clock. Observe the action behind the glass of the cafeteria, enjoy authentic food in the BBQ house by the track or end the day with a round of putt-putt golf.
Seafood lovers rejoice, there are still places to grab the best seafood grub in town. Head to the region in November for the Gladstone Seafood Festival. Eat your way through the best local catches of the day and don’t forget to bring the family along. The free event also includes entertainment!
There’s so much to do and see in Central QLD so you best be on your way now!
