But there’s more to the iconic region than you probably know. There are plenty of things to do that involve the bush, the rainforest, coastal areas and the city centre. It’s time to explore all that Bundaberg has to offer.
Bundaberg isn’t as remote as you might think. At just a four hour’s drive from Brisbane, the region is surrounded by a number of popular coastal and regional centres including Gympie, Avoca and Bargara.
The tropical climate in central Queensland can only mean one thing – amazing beaches. Bundaberg is home to its fair share of beach attractions including Bargara Beach, just 15 minutes away from the city centre and Coral Cove, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
There are plenty of family friendly attractions and things to do in the heart of the Bundaberg region. Visit Mon Repos Conservation Park in the middle of turtle season or try and solve one of the biggest mysteries in Australia’s history at the Mystery Craters. Learn more about the history of the region at the Gympie Gold Mining Historical Museum. One of the most notable people from the region was aviation pioneer Bert Hinkler so it’s only fitting you pay a visit to the Hinkler Hall of Aviation.
The Bundaberg region is also big on events and activities. Pick up a special souvenir at the Kilkivan Sunday Markets or support a good cause in the Variety Santa Fun Run.
