Redcliffe City Region Highlights & Essential Things To Do
Discover Your Local Redcliffe City Area
Redcliffe is a place for all things iconic. Located in south-east Queensland, it has been a home for musical wonders the Bee Gees, effectively the harbingers of disco. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Bee Gees are an iconic musical trio responsible for enhancing the pyrotechnics scene. In homage of their presence on the international stage, Redcliffe has created one of the area's most popular local attractions: Bee Gees Way. Bee Gees Way is located within the Redcliffe CBD, just off Redcliffe Parade and Sutton St. This monument is a stone-throw from Redcliffe Jetty and consists of permanent memorabilia including a life-sized statue of the Bee Gees, 60 photographs, 13 album covers, a mural of the band and lyrical captions provided by Barry Gibb himself. It's one of the most nostalgic places to go if you're passing through.
Other sites that have become quite iconic within the region include the Houghton Highway and Ted Smout Memorial Bridge. They are the longest bridges in Australia, linking Redcliffe to the Brisbane suburb of Brighton. If you're looking for things to do, these conduits are the perfect place to enjoy a car-cruise and some panoramic views!
Visit the HMQS Gayundah Shipwreck off Woody Point. The HMQS Gayundah was a flat-iron gunboat operated by the Queensland Maritime Defence Force, and then later at the Royal Australian Navy. It now serves as a breakwater. Have a wander of the area and enjoy the littoral views that the HMQS Gayundah is beached upon.
Redcliffe City is a great region to visit when looking for something a little out of the ordinary, with a bunch of events and activities on offer. Full of excitement and a hint of disco, it's sure to fulfill any quirky requirement.
