Imagine a tranquil regional landscape of thriving rural communities and activities set in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range yet one surrounded by world heritage listed national parks and attractions. Beaudesert Shire is located in south-east Queensland, nestled between the Gold Coast hinterland to the urban fringes of the cities of Brisbane and Ipswich and stretching to the northern New South Wales border. To begin, how about a journey throughout the region on one of Beaudesert's scenic tourist drives? The Lions Road is a particularly famous one that stretches on an 11 kilometre road that links Rathdowney and Kyogle in NSW through to the rugged but picturesque McPherson Ranges, peaking with Mount Barney at its summit. Another well-known drive is the Rainforest Way. It is a great opportunity to witness world heritage listed rainforests in all its splendour. For the outdoorsy, camping is another option. There are many facility-filled campsites within the Beaudesert Shire including Andrew Drynan Park, Mt Barney Lodge, Burgess Park, Darlington Park and Lamington National Park.
The Gold Coast Hinterland Food and Wine Trail moseys through acclaimed wine regions so you can visit boutique wineries, idyllic homesteads and cellar doors amongst picturesque valleys. Guide yourself on a vineyard tour and sample wine at renowned estates and, at the same time, relish in Beaudesert Shire's wide range of high quality restaurants and cafe culture. Indulge in the fresh and local produce that the region has to offer.
For the market fiend there are the Tamborine Mountain School Markets held monthly and the Tamborine Mountain Local Producers Markets held every Sunday. Peruse through locally made knick knacks and regional specialties. Lastly, quintessential to the Beaudesert Shire experience is the Beaudesert Country and Horse Festival.
