Sing It! Brisbane’s Best Karaoke Bars
We know you Brisbanites know how to have a good time, so next time you’re planning a night out, load up on liquid courage and take centre stage as you belt out some of your favourite tacky tunes with a bout of karaoke. The best part of the favourite Japanese pastime is that having zero singing talent usually produces the greatest (and funniest) results. Here are our picks of the best places to sing your heart out in Brisbane!
FAT LOUIE’S (Brisbane City)
When it comes to the Japanese art-form, cheap drinks, glitter balls and a killer sound system are all you need. Luckily, Fat Louie’s ticks all these boxes. Located amongst all the action in the CBD, this local establishment is your go-to for late night booze-fuelled sing-a-longs. When your vocal cords tire, challenge your friends to a game of pool or hit the dance floor, where local bands and DJsreign.
Price: $20/hr for up to 2 people, $30/hr for 3-8 people
2002 CYBER CITY (Fortitude Valley)
Give a nod to the noughties and get your fix of greasy Chinese food, old-school arcade games and of course karaoke at this iconic 24-hour Fortitude Valley hangout. Dingy and tacky, 2002 Cyber City is the place to go if you’re after a wonderfully weird night out which will inevitably be made complete with too many Britney Spears renditions and failed attempts at the claw-toy vending machines.
Price: Depends on which day of the week you visit. Contact Cyber City for further information.
THE QUEEN KARAOKE (Brisbane City)
If you’re after somewhere slightly more luxe to flaunt your singing prowess, head to The Queen Karaoke in the CBD, which is far from your idea of the typical dim-lit, stale-smelling karaoke joint. As the name suggests, this centrally located classy establishment is the ruler of all karaoke bars, with spacious private rooms, large screens and comfy plush lounges (minus the mysterious stains). While it’s on the pricier end of the spectrum, the BYO policy will save you some dosh.
Price: $150/hr for up to 20 people
STRIKE WINTERGARDEN (Brisbane City)
After a competitive game of bowling, settle those tensions over a few cocktails and an hour or two of karaoke at Strike Wintergarden. Set a playlist of your favourite jams, hire a prop box of costumes for a few extra laughs and get singing. With drinks and snacks delivered straight to your private room, you’ll have everything you need for a night of shamelessly belting out Backstreet Boys hits.
Price: $80/hr for up to 20 people
MUSIC CITY (Brisbane City)
This hidden gem is a favourite among locals, and after an inebriated karaoke session here, you’ll understand why. There are more than ten private rooms, each able to accommodate up to 15 people and stocked with microphones, tambourines and maracas for the ultimate music making fun, which only gets better the more tone deaf you are. After ten visits, there are some pretty sweet deals on offer, so make this your local stomping ground!
Price: $25 for 5 people, $35 for 6-7 people, $45 for 8-10 people ($5 extra for each extra person)
