Are you out of things to do in Sydney’s Inner West? Maybe it’s time for you to try something new, or rediscover some old skills and put them through their paces again. Here are a few things to consider during those long days.
SOURDOUGH BREADMAKING WORKSHOP 23 August 2015 (Drummoyne)
Learn to bake your favourite bread at home! The free workshop, held by Concord Library, will teach you how to make and maintain a sourdough starter. You’ll get a real hands on experience and some tasty recipes, as well as some tips about ways to use bread and dough that you might not have thought of before. Booking is essential and time is running short so be quick!
SUPPER CERAMICS (Marrickville)
Unleash your inner creative by designing your own dinnerware and enjoy a three course meal afterwards! On the night of your choice you and up to six friends can spend three hours with artists Robyn Chilles and Lisa Hoelzl. They’ll guide you through the process whilst a chef cooks for you. All the work will be fired in a kiln and ready in time for Christmas, so you can even knock a gift of your Christmas list.

ART ON KING (Newtown)
Unleash your inner artist by joining Art on King’s Sunday Sketch Club. Bring your drawing gear down and join a class open to all skill levels. These life drawing classes feature a different model each week, using both male and female muses. There’s also an art store open if you need any emergency supplies. If you’ve ever wondered what goes into making a hat, Embellish Atelier’s workshops have got you covered. The award winning milliner Catherine Kelly holds a series of workshops that can fill your weekends with all your millinery needs. Learn how to create gorgeous silk shower caps or how to make a headpiece during high tea. You can even make your own fascinator to wear to the Races. These workshops are well worth the time.

INNER WEST SCHOOL OF DANCE (Haberfield)
Do you want to get fit but think jogging is torture? Why not attend the Inner West School of Dance’s adult classes? They are offering Ballet for fitness and Tap lessons for adults. These classes are excellent for beginners and a good refresher for old hands. They also offer a good stretch and work out. ARCHWAY 1 THEATRE COMPANY (Annandale)
You know what makes you different from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp? You haven’t taken any acting classes! But that can change at the Archway 1 Theatre Company. Developed under an artist-run initiative, the theatre company is offering acting classes for theatre, camera and improvisation. There’s no reason not to follow your dreams and become the star that you were destined to be.

Everybody enjoys singing, whether it’s in the shower, the car or s even just in some school performances back in the day! All Age Music’s Glee Club for Adults is the perfect place to share your passion with like-minded individuals. Sing a whole range of songs, with professional music teachers to guide you while having a lot of fun. There’s no experience necessary, just come along and sing.
