Fun in the Water Sydney
Surrounded by picturesque beaches, dams, water parks and secret waterholes, Sydney is the perfect place to find a surplus of fun aquatic locations for a day of adventuring. Here are a few of the best spots for fun in the water in Sydney.
MAHON POOL (Maroubra)
This ocean-pool is tucked between the northern clifftops of Maroubra and the consistent waves of the Pacific Ocean. With the ocean acting as a natural filtration system, these clean pools are the perfect place for a swim while you watch the surf pound at the beach beyond. On days when the waves are big, swimmers can be rocked around by the current of the ocean without fear of rips or tides.
Location: 15 Marine Parade, Maroubra NSW 2035
MERMAID POOLS (Tahmoor Gorge)
A great spot for adrenaline-junkies, the Mermaid Pools are only accessible by plunging off a 10-metre rock face and into the water below. With limited signage and no phone reception, this little spot is 45 minutes away from the world and the perfect spot to indulge your inner adventurer. The large sandstone swimming holes are fed by the Bargo River Gorge via a gentle waterfall. This magical little spot is well worth the walk!
Location: Rockford Road, Tahmoor NSW 2573
JAMBEROO ACTION PARK (Jamberoo)
If you’re looking for a full day of water, fun and action, Jamberoo is the perfect place! There are a tonne of water-rides, games and activities to partake in at Jamberoo from the famous Funnel Web to the massive Taipan, and a day-trip here is sure to keep the kids entertained (and tire them out!). This water-park is the perfect place to beat the heat and have a memorable adventure with friends and family.

ANGOURIE BEACH (Angourie)
Just off Angourie Beach are the Angourie Blue Pools. This astoundingly deep swimming hole is the perfect spot for a cliff jumping adventure. With a high rock shelf towering over the deep water, there’s heaps to explore (and jump off) around these freshwater pools. This will be an aquatic adventure you won’t soon forget. Make sure to snap a few shots of the picturesque pools and the beach to remember this awesome day of exploration!
Location: Angourie NSW 2464
IVOR ROWE ROCKPOOL (Coogee)
Although it may be one of the smallest ocean pools on the Coastal Walkway, the Ivor Rowe Rockpool is not short on aquatic diversity. Many sea-creatures dwell on the shallow rock floor of these pools, making this the perfect place to get up-close and personal with some incredible marine life. Aside from the rockpools, there are plenty of caves, waterfalls and beaches to discover in this area, so pack your swimmers, some shoes and a towel, and get adventuring.
