Darling Harbour is an excellent place to take the kids during the school holidays. Watch the kids play in the outdoor playground and frolic through the fountain, or take them to one of the many attractions nearby. For $6 for adults and $3 for kids you can enter the Chinese Garden of Friendship and take part in fish feeding or go on the zodiac treasure hunt. Save money by purchasing tickets online to the SEA LIFE Aquarium or Wildlife World, which average $20 per child and $28 for adults.
These April holidays the Museum of Sydney has some great exhibitions to cater to the little ones. The Towers of Tomorrow Lego exhibition allows you to look at some of the world’s most famous landmarks as Lego models and also build your own. With 200,000 loose Lego bricks on hand your kids can let their imagination run wild! Also opening these holidays is the Toys through Time exhibition which showcases a large selection of Sydneysiders toys throughout history. Entry to the exhibitions are $15 for both adults and children.
Take the kids on a self-guided tour of The Rocks. Walk through the heritage listed buildings and learn about Sydney’s convict history and the lives of those who lived in one of Sydney’s first suburbs. The Rocks is also brimming with cafes and an array of shops so there is plenty to see and do. An active, free and educative activity that is a great option these holidays.
Take the kids to the Australian Museum these holidays for a fun and interactive day of learning all about Australia’s plants and wildlife. Entry to the museum is only $8 for kids and there is a kid space mini museum to help keep the little ones entertained. These holidays there is also the exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year, which costs only $11 for children and includes an interactive live animal wildlife show! Let them get up close and personal with all sorts of creepy crawlies and reptiles.
