Best Dog Parks in Hobart
Brimming with wildlife and spectacular landscapes, Hobart is an absolute wonderland for any dog. Finding appropriate places for your furry little buddy to go play can be a bit tricky, especially when there seems like there’s so much to do! Here is a list of some places you can let your dog out safely and have a lot of fun at the same time. Prepare for a big ol' doggy grin.
LAMBERT PARK (Sandy Bay)
Mostly venturing through bushland overlooking the city, Lambert Park is an interesting walking ground you can take your beloved Kujo. With the landscape gradually changing from forest to wetlands, it’s a walk that’ll have that nose sniffing and tail wagging in no time! While dogs must be on leads and are only allowed to go as far as Enterprise Road Junction, it still allows them a decent two hour stroll through some stimulating woods with their favourite person ever- it’s well worth it!
Location: Lambert Park, 22 Lambert Avenue, Sandy Bay TAS 7005
ANZAC PARK (Hobart)
This off-leash exercise area is ideal if you want some quality time with your dog. Take them out for a good old fashioned round of fetch, or sprint and tumble together in the grass. Just make sure they keep away from public facilities and other guests trying to use the park (unless they have a leash on) as it’s a popular destination (you’ll understand why once you go). With large greenery for your doggo to let loose in and lots of public facilities nearby, Anzac Park is an easy win-win for both of you.
Location: Anzac Park, 19D Lincoln Street, Hobart TAS 7000
ERROL FLYNN RESERVE & SHORT BEACH (Sandy Bay)
What better way to treat your fluffy comrade than by taking them for a walk on the beach? Off-lead to boot! Side-by-side, the Errol Flynn Reserve and Short Beach at Sandy Bay offer the best of both worlds - chill out on the grass or next to some waves it’s your call. Perfect for all the water dogs out there, it’s an excellent way to cool down and hang out in style.
Location: 12 Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay TAS 7005
CARTWRIGHT POINT RESERVE (Hobart)
Overlooking the ocean, this cultured reserve can make for one fun outing with your pet! A smoother walking option for you and your canine, Cartwright Point Reserve is all about the calm ambience than it is the rough and tough Tasmanian outdoors. But hey, maybe that’s what your both after - it’s ‘ruff’ work being a dog, after all. Regardless, the views do not disappoint. Cartwright Point Reserve is one to keep in mind if you’re after some relaxing, quality-time with your fur child in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Location: 889 Sandy Bay Road, Hobart TAS 7000
QUEENS DOMAIN (Hobart)
An immense expanse of green characterises the dog park at Queens Doman. So much space for activities! It’ll have both you and your dog drooling. The off-leash area sits next to the ocean, it’s the perfect place to hit up, and come winter, you will get plenty of that much-needed sunshine. Open, fresh and with endless possibilities, the Queens Domain is the perfect place for a doggy play date.
